Bio-Visie Natuureducatieve Projecten was founded by the teacher Hendrik Hoogeveen from the Netherlands. He is the initiator and coordinator of a group of volunteers who create a series of lessons, educational projects and exhibitions on various nature-related issues. This group believes that their projects need to be accessible to all, not just to wealthy schools and museums. Therefore, their work is idealistic and not commercial - they make no profit from it. Hendrik Hoogeveen has obtained a license from the Dutch government to own, prepare and use protected dead and stuffed animals for these purposes. This can be seen as an endorsement and support for the educational activities of this group.

The Bio-Visie Group pays close attention to endangered species. In 2019, they worked on an exhibition about the great horned owl (Lucanus cervus cervus), the occurrence of which in the Netherlands is uncertain. They thought it was a very good idea to introduce this beautiful species to the general public in the Netherlands. There was already enormous interest in presenting the exhibition in other countries when the exhibition was only in preparation.

The exhibition focused on the life and problems of the species Lucanus cervus cervus, but in order to put the species in a broader context, it was necessary to highlight biodiversity. Another aim was to awaken amazement at the diversity and beauty of these beetles. Therefore, different species of beetles from all families were presented, as well as insects from other orders from all over the world. And in order to show the sexual differences, it was ideal to get both a male and a female for each species.

Since the educational work of this organization is idealistic and not commercial, its budget was very small. Therefore, it relied on kind people and institutions that were willing to help them carry out their work. Many scientists and breeding enthusiasts helped by sending specimens of various beetles. Martin Václavík founder of the original faBfly company now known as BUTTERFLYWINGS Jewelry donated several magnificent specimens Mecynorhina torquata ugandensis for this educational project on beetles. The Bio-Visie Group is extremely grateful and excited about this wonderful gift!

Good luck to Butterflywings
